About

On 28 February 2013, members from USCG Air Station New Orleans' 'CrossFit Overtorque' and the surrounding community gathered together to pay tribute to their fallen comrades by way of a 'Hero Workout' dedicated to the memory of those lost in CG6535 one year prior.  They completed four rounds of 400m runs, 65 Air Squats and 35 Burpee Pull-ups - one round for each member of the CG6535 crew.

Word quickly spread of this effort, and by 2014 CrossFit boxes, USCG affiliates, gyms, units, friends and strangers from all across the country and the world joined in.  Completing the workout as individuals or in teams; Rx'd or scaled - their effort honored the memory of those lost.  Furthermore, they gathered their resources to raise funds for the Coast Guard Foundation's Fallen Heroes Scholarship Fund - providing for the families of those who were lost.

Now in it's fifth year, the Workout to Remember has expanded to recognize all of our USCG aviators who have been lost in the line of duty since the service's inception.  This year's commemorative shirt bears the tail number of each flight, and the names of those heroes that were lost.

On 28 February 2017, we will again gather to pay tribute to the heroes who have gone before us.  In 'boxes,' gyms, parks, and on cutters and ships underway at sea, we will take time to honor those we lost in a way that only we truly understand.  We invite each and everyone of you to participate as an individual or with a team.  Facility and unit leaders are encouraged to coordinate organized workouts, and we hope that you will share the experience with pictures and posts on social media to show your support (#cgwodtoremember).  You can also show your support by purchasing and wearing one of our annual fundraiser t-shirts, shown on the "T-shirt Fundraiser" tab at the top of the screen.

As always, we thank you for your continued support in honoring those who have gone before and caring for those they left behind.

Honor.  Respect.  Remember.
